Resurrection Garden and Holy Week Activities with Kids
There are so many wonderful Easter crafts out there to do during this beautiful season of renewal. I wanted to make sure to share with you some of the ways that we celebrate the Easter season while trying to keep the focus on Jesus Christ. Below you will find some great ideas to do throughout the Easter/Lenten season or activities to focus on during Holy Week. This is such a beautiful time to really teach children about the real reason behind the season and resurrection of the Lord. What a gift!
Below you will find some of the wonderful ways that we have celebrated the season!
Resurrection Garden
Supplies:
Large, round pot (we used one without too much depth)
Smaller pot to be used as the tomb
Large rock to act as the tomb door
Tree sticks to form a cross, string or wire to tie together
Flowers, pebbles, soil, grass, etc… to use a filler so the kids can have fun with it!
Holy Week Set
This is one of my favorite activities to do during Holy Week! We started this last year when we were gifted this set, and it’s truly such a wonderful way to teach children about the events leading up to the resurrection. Each day has a reading and description in the booklet and tells you which pieces to put out. The pieces are sturdy enough for the children to play with and create their own scenes or conversations. Such a great way to use their imagination and learn all about Holy Week!
Sunset Cross
For this craft, we simply tore construction paper to create a beautiful sunset background (or rainbow) to make a simple cross for the season. You can do this with one cross for Jesus Christ, or even the three crosses on it.
Stations of the Cross Garland
Take four pieces of white card stock paper and cut it into four squares. Each day have your children write the station of the cross with the corrleating scripture. Punch holes into your cards and string them on some string or burlap twine to make a garland for your home. This is a great craft to use throughout the years! Photos coming soon!
If you’re looking for some great color sheets of the station of the cross to make a garland or booklet, I love these here!
Thanks for taking a peek at some of our favorite crafts so far for the easter season. As we do more fun activities, I will update this post for you! Enjoy this time with your children and make sure to keep the focus on Christ.
