My Breastfeeding Breakfast
Awhile back I did a post that featured breastfeeding power foods and I talked about oatmeal. Oatmeal is one of those super power foods for breastfeeding since it is good for increasing your supply and keeping your milk production up. I've always liked oatmeal but only the instant Strawberries and Cream. I even tried plain old brown sugar oatmeal in the hospital and it was not good.
What's even better than that instant oatmeal for breastfeeding? Well from what I've heard, steel cut oatmeal.
I purchased the Quaker Steel Cut oats right after Little Bug was born and I just left it sitting there in the cabinet. I didn't like that there weren't any strawberries in it and I really didn't like that it took 20-30 minutes to make.
Who has time to cook breakfast with a new baby?
Well now that I am off of dairy, I can no longer use my quick fix of strawberries and cream oatmeal. So now this chick here makes her steel cut oatmeal every morning. All I can say is if it wasn't for brown sugar and fresh strawberries, I could never eat it. It's not tasty at all. I must have a strawberry on every spoonful and then it is not that bad. I guess you can say it is growing on me.
At least I'm getting my fruit!
What's your favorite breakfast item?
